North by Northwest (1959) - Hitchcock's cameo

Hitchcock's cameo in North by Northwest (1959) occurs about 2 minutes into the film.

During the opening title sequence, which shows New Yorkers rushing home from work, Hitchcock just misses catching his bus. The cameo was filmed near to 347 Madison Avenue, New York City.

In Hitchcock's previous film with Cary Grant, To Catch a Thief (1955), Hitchcock was seen sat on a bus next to Grant.

About 45 minutes into the film, there's a rather lugubrious lady on the train who looks directly towards the camera and shrugs... could it be a secret cameo in drag or is it just someone who looks a little like Hitch? Click here to find out!
