MARRIAGES

Mr. H. W. Austin and Miss Phyllis Konstam

The marriage took place on Saturday at Hampstead Parish Church of Mr. Henry Wilfred Austin, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Austin, of South Norwood Park. and Miss Phyllis Esther Konstam, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Konstam, of Middleheath, Hampstead. The Rev. Hugh Johnston, the Rev. H. T. Carnegie, and the Rev. J. F. Carter officiated.

The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of oyster-tinted satin, with a girdle of diamante and pearls. She wore a lace veil and carried a sheaf of lilies. The trainbearers were Miss Patricia Hitchcock, Miss Sylvia Lycett, and Miss Pamela Glennie, and they wore ankle-length dresses of pink taffeta. She was also attended by two grown-up brides-maids, Miss Joyce Konstam and Miss Phoebe Konstam, who wore dresses of pink lace, with taffeta ruchings, and carried bouquets of carnations and pink roses. Mr. John Olliff was the best man. A reception was held by Mrs. Konstam at Middleheath, Hampstead.


The guest list at the reception included: Alfred Hitchcock, Edmund Gwenn, Daphne du Maurier, Seymour Hicks, Herbert Marshall, Lilian Braithwaite, Robin Irvine, Joan Barry, Frank Lawton, and Leon M Lion.
