  • The Hitchcocks and production assistant Barbara Keon work on the script for The Paradine Case.[2]

May

  • Hitchcock visits London to discuss potential material for Transatlantic Pictures' debut film with Sidney Bernstein, and to scout for locations that could be used in footage for the The Paradine Case — this includes a trip northwards to Cumbria with unit manager Fred Ahern. Hitchcock then travels on to Nice, France, to search for a French actress should Alida Valli be unable to star in The Paradine Case.[3]
  • 5th - James Bridie arrives in New York to work on the script for The Paradine Case.[4]

July

  • Increasingly frustrated by the seemingly slow pace of work on the screenplay for The Paradine Case, David O. Selznick takes over and begins working on it.[5]

August

  • Having returned from London and France, Hitchcock continues work on The Paradine Case screenplay.[6]

December

  • In early December, David O. Selznick and Hitchcock work for two weeks with Ben Hecht on finishing The Paradine Case screenplay.[7]
  • 19th - Principal photography begins on The Paradine Case, starring Gregory Peck, Ann Todd, Alida Valli and Charles Laughton. The start of production was delayed by two months due Selznick's decision to close his studios during a Hollywood strike.[8]
