Abstract

Canada Lee was an important black actor who appeared as Banquo in the 1936 staging of "Macbeth," Bertram in the 1938 "Haiti," and a noble steward in Alfred Hitchcock's 1944 movie "Lifeboat." Lee is profiled, and his career as a black actor in non-traditional roles is discussed.
